Good evening everyone,
Tomorrow begins and event Mobile Innovations @ Discovery Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) which takes place May 27-28, 2013 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, in Toronto, ON.
Of note, as one of the exhibitors is QNX … which have tweeted something very interesting.
QNX is to present more muscle into a connected Corvette. Will this be the brand-new C7 Stingray which already uses Chevrolet’s MyLink Infotainment system (featuring Bluetooth and USB connectivity), on steroids using QNX? Considering that is already use OnStar’s services (Advanced Automatic Collision Notification, roadside assistance, vehicle diagnostics information, live advisors, and turn-by-turn navigation), QNX is already part of many of GM’s car systems. The C7 Corvette Stingray has already gone through a complete interior overhaul that was desperately needed some 10 yrs long overdue, yet I cannot wait to see what QNX Auto team has in store for us tomorrow.
UPDATE: Unfortunately this is not the C7 Corvette as GM was very restrictive of this machine. Sorry everyone 😦

That’s right baby … BlackBerry’s real end game will be announced, and start. N4BB did a great interiew with Thorstein Heins and specifically about BlackBerry and Petronas Mercedes F1 Team partnership. Currently, at the time of the interview, BlackBerry technology was used as communications for pit crew, management team, and engineering team.
Thorstein is adding to the value proposition for BlackBerry, its not just a hardware company and never was, BlackBerry is a solutions company. Mercedes already uses QNX, and now is exploring getting AMG Mercedes Petronas team to get Telemetry, Managing the race car, and getting data from the car – the Formula 1 car. I believe no other company can get this done, and done RIGHT! This is M2M or Machine-to-Machine solutions going forward for BlackBerry.
There is a breakout session during Day 1 of BlackBerry Live 2013 in Orlando …
BAB04 – Evolution of Mobile and M2M Computing
Linda Campbell, Director Strategic Alliances , BlackBerry
In its simplest definition, mobile computing can be seen as the use of a mobile phone and its evolution from communications device to computing platform, marrying our personal and professional lives into a common experience. Now there is another major shift happening as more than just our phones get connected to the network.
The machine, as we know it, is experiencing a renaissance brought on by connectivity. Soon everything will be connected: machines, mobiles, data and people. Connected machines have the potential to become open platforms that both create and consume data.
As an industry, how are we going to encourage the innovation that is possible and what hurdles will we have to overcome to get there? What role will BlackBerry® play in defining the future of mobile and M2M computing?
